SPORTS BROADCASTINGCondry to be honoredPaul R. Condry of the Regional Radio Sports Network based in Crown Point has been named the 1999-2000 recipient of the IHSAA's Distinguished Media Service Award for District I. He will be honored this Friday at the Hammond Civic Center during the inaugural Region Roundball Rumble. Condry, 43, is a 1974 graduate of Hobart High School.

As president of the Regional Radio Sports Network, Condry guides an organization that produces radio programming and high school play-by-play broadcasts on stations in Michigan City, Mishawaka, Fort Wayne, Howe and Kalamazoo, Mich. During his career, Condry has broadcast more than 1,000 high school sporting events in Indiana.

Condry's broadcasting career began in 1989 at WWJY Radio in Crown Point where he served as sports director and sales manager. Now, in addition to the Regional Radio Sports Network, he serves as publisher of the monthly Northern Indiana High School Sports Report and the annual Indiana High School and Collegiate Football Guide.
